This Week’s Highlights – February 20, 2023

  • Pineapple – Excellent quality.
  • Raspberries – Volume will continue to increase steadily until early May. Overall fruit quality and size is very good.
  • Lemons – Good supply and very good quality.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Lighter supply and higher pricing out of Mexico; this will continue over the next 10 days. Quality is outstanding.
  • Spring Mix – Quality and supplies are very good.

This Week’s Highlights – August 16, 2021

  • Cucumbers – Market and supply are good; quality is outstanding.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Good supply and quality available. Expect improvement in shelf life, quality and size distribution over the next several weeks. Reminder: Do Not store tomatoes in the refrigerator, this causes a loss of flavor and a mealy texture.
  • Red Leaf Lettuce – Good volume with good quality and the market is steady.
  • Cauliflower – Supplies are expected to be plentiful this week. Overall quality and appearance are very nice.
  • Broccoli/Broccoli Florets – Supplies are better this week.
  • Napa Cabbage – Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.

This Week’s Highlights – August 2, 2021

  • Blackberries – Supply is expected to increase week over week for the next 2-3 weeks.
  • Eggplant – Good supply in east and upper Midwest with excellent overall quality; the west is now if full swing with outstanding quality.
  • Arugula – Supply and quality are good.
  • Napa Cabbage -Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Production is lighter than expected; should see a vast improvement on quality and volume over the next 2-3 weeks. Note: Do not store tomatoes in the refrigerator, refrigeration causes loss of flavor and creates a mealy texture. Cut back on inventory and increase turns to improve quality and reduce loss.

This Week’s Highlights – June 7, 2021

  • Red Bell Pepper – Excellent supply and quality is outstanding.
  • Avocados –  Volume is now surging, making for outstanding eating quality, but greatly reduces shelf life.
  • Zucchini/Yellow Squash – Strong production is now underway. Quality is outstanding.
  • Artichokes – Quality is excellent; expect good volume to continue on large sizes. Prices are low and steady.
  • Bok Choy – Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Quality and supply are expected to be marginal until July.

This Week’s Highlights – February 1, 2021

  • Roma Tomatoes – Florida supply is steady. Quality is outstanding.
  • Berries – Extensive damage to crops due to major rain; availability on all berries will be affected through the next week.
  • Romaine and Romaine Hearts – Production and supply are on budget.  Weights are improving and quality is excellent.
  • Arugula – Supply and quality are good this week.
