This Week’s Highlights – August 23, 2021

  • Fennel – Increased supply; sizing and quality are excellent.
  • Blackberries – Expecting peak supplies to continue through the end of August. Quality is good with large fruit size.
  • Bok Choy – Supply is expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.
  • Onions & Potatoes – Trucking issues and rates seem to continue to create higher pricing and limiting the availability. Plan accordingly.

This Week’s Highlights – July 26, 2021

  • Zucchini & Yellow Squash – Strong production and excellent quality.
  • Asparagus – Market is steady, good quality.
  • Rapini – Good supply, quality is strong overall.
  • Baby Spinach – Supply and quality are good.
  • Potatoes – Expect a gap between the old product and the new harvest through August; watch for increased pricing through this time and into the fall.

This Week’s Highlights – February 24, 2020

  • Romain – Supply and quality are good.
  • Green Onions – Supply continues to improve, market is steady.
  • Snow Peas – Good supply and quality.
  • Peaches, Plums and Nectarines – Good supply available out of Chili.
  • Potatoes – During the months of  March/April, when russet growing regions finish shipping their crop, the market may become very short as customers look to Idaho to fill their supply gaps.

This Week’s Highlights – November 25, 2019

  • Cranberries – After the classic cranberry sauce is made to serve with your turkey, expand your use of the seasonal berry…puree 1/4 cup classic cranberries, then add 1/2 cup softened butter and a pinch of sea salt.  Spread on bagels, bread or scones.  Enjoy!
  • Navels/Valencias – These oranges are an excellent size, peaking on 72/56s.  High solids-to-acid ratio.
  • Asparagus – Volume is steady, quality is good.
  • Cabbage (green) – There is heavy supply this week. Quality is good.
  • Items on the Extreme List to be aware of: all berries, garlic, green beans, melons and potatoes. Keep an on your costs and quality of shipments.
