This Week’s Highlights – January 10, 2022

  • Eggplant – Supply is lighter this week out of Florida due to cooler weather. Excellent supply crossing through Nogales and quality is very nice.
  • Avocados – Market pricing continues to rise. Overall quality is outstanding.
  • Zucchini/Yellow Squash – Tighter supply this week due to cooler weather. Quality is outstanding on zucchini and fair on yellow squash.
  • Cantaloupe – A significant shift in sizing has been realized over the past week as jumbo fruit has all but disappeared. Good availability on 9/12/15’s. Quality continues to be very good.  Average brix levels are now ranging from 11-14%.
  • Cauliflower – Supply is expected to be lighter than normal for the next two weeks.
  • Napa Cabbage – Volume is expected to be plentiful for the next two weeks.

This Week’s Highlights – August 16, 2021

  • Cucumbers – Market and supply are good; quality is outstanding.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Good supply and quality available. Expect improvement in shelf life, quality and size distribution over the next several weeks. Reminder: Do Not store tomatoes in the refrigerator, this causes a loss of flavor and a mealy texture.
  • Red Leaf Lettuce – Good volume with good quality and the market is steady.
  • Cauliflower – Supplies are expected to be plentiful this week. Overall quality and appearance are very nice.
  • Broccoli/Broccoli Florets – Supplies are better this week.
  • Napa Cabbage – Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.

This Week’s Highlights – August 2, 2021

  • Blackberries – Supply is expected to increase week over week for the next 2-3 weeks.
  • Eggplant – Good supply in east and upper Midwest with excellent overall quality; the west is now if full swing with outstanding quality.
  • Arugula – Supply and quality are good.
  • Napa Cabbage -Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.
  • Roma Tomatoes – Production is lighter than expected; should see a vast improvement on quality and volume over the next 2-3 weeks. Note: Do not store tomatoes in the refrigerator, refrigeration causes loss of flavor and creates a mealy texture. Cut back on inventory and increase turns to improve quality and reduce loss.

This Week’s Highlights – July 19, 2021

  • Mini Sweet Pepper – Excellent supply and quality.
  • Eggplant – Overall quality is excellent.
  • Honeydew – Production is very limited; anticipate better availability over the next 7-10 days.
  • Cauliflower – Supplies are expected to be plentiful this week. Overall quality and appearance should be very nice.
  • Napa Cabbage – Supplies are expected to be plentiful for the next three weeks.

This Week’s Highlights – September 7, 2020

  • Celery – Good quality and good supply for the next 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Grapes – Red grape pricing is up slightly, with green pricing remaining steady.
  • Asparagus – Good volume and quality, market slightly higher. Expect steady demand until December.
  • Cauliflower – Currently there is good supply, but expect tight supply soon. Quality is good.
  • Napa Cabbage – Supply is expected to be plentiful this week.
