Bananas – Good volume and quality. Iceberg Lettuce, Romaine, Romaine Hearts, Green Leaf – Supplies continue to be lighter due to lower yields, viruses and impacts from excessive heat. The market is very active and the forecast is for higher prices to continue. Spring Mix – Supply and quality are good. Eggplant – Normal supply and good quality available. English Cucumbers – Higher demand and very light supply has spiked the markets and will remain firm for the next several weeks. Green Onions – Extremely light supply expected to continue well into the month of October.
Brussels Sprouts – Volume continues to be strong; expect to see strong volume and soft market for the next few weeks.
Broccoli/Broccoli Florets – Supply is very good this week.
Specialty Oranges – Blood oranges and Cara Cara are available in good supply. Clementines are winding down. Murcotts are available in good supply.
Romaine and Romaine Hearts – Production is lighter; watch for blistering and lighter weights.
English Cucumbers – Supple is stable this week; FOB prices are down.
Red, Yellow & Green Bell Peppers – Excellent supply and good quality.
English Cucumbers – The market remains very tight, but quality is good.
French Beans – Volume remains stable and quality is strong.
Herbs – Very good supply on almost all fresh herbs and quality is outstanding.
Broccoli/Broccoli Florets – Supply is light this week and the market is strong. Supply is not expected to return to normal until the end of November.
Medley Grape Tomato – Excellent volume and quality. Pineapples – Good volume and quality is great. Red Leaf Lettuce – Good volume with good quality. Red, Yellow and Mini Sweet Pepper – Excellent supply and good quality. English Cucumber – Market is tight out of Canada, but quality is good. Mexico should start in two weeks. Spinach (Baby) – Supply and quality are good this week.
Red Bell Pepper – New crop out of California. Supply is stable and excellent quality. Blackberries – California in peak production with large berries. English Cucumbers – Market and supply are good; quality is outstanding. Carrots – ESCALATED -Shippers are still struggling with jumbos and table due to labor (these are hand packed items). No constraints on peeled carrots, food service items. Fennel – Good supply this week. Sizing and quality are excellent. Good volume will continue through at least next week. Rapini – Production volumes are above budget this week. Expect quality to remain strong and supply to remain plentiful for the next couple of weeks.
