This Week’s Highlights – March 5, 2018

  • Cantaloupe – Quality is very good; Honeydew quality remains mixed.
  • Peppers – Supplies continue to be steady from FL, with all sizes and grades available and good quality being reported.
  • Grape Tomatoes – Showing excellence in the market, making them a fabulous candidate for this week’s good buy!  Though less sweet than cherry tomatoes, they last longer because they are hardier and less fragile to pack and transport.  As always, DO NOT store tomatoes in the refrigerator…this causes them to lose flavor and become mealy in texture.
  • Broccoli, Broccolini, Cauliflower – Demand exceeds supply due to freezing temps.
  • Lettuce and Cilantro – Freezing temps have affected leafy items, yield and harvesting.
  • Zucchini and Yellow Squash – Supplies are very short and quality is not great.
